David, is there a direct link to the talk file? I'm on Ubuntu and I get this error:

Unsupported OS

This recorded Webinar is only available for Windows 2000 or higher.

Thanks.

David, Does R include Regular Expressions?

Open video format will be more linux friendly. Furthermore when there is an add for Revolution in the R console in ubuntu.

For those on Ubuntu and other platforms where it's hard to play a WMV file stay tuned -- we're exploring other more platform-friendly options for distributing the video. Thanks for the feedback. (By the way, REvolution R is available on Ubuntu today.)

Yes, R has very strong capabilities for dealing with character data using regular expressions. See help(regex) in R for all the details.
