Fascinating article David, thank you for summarizing the talks for the readers who didn't attend.

I would extend on Joe's point regarding P values:
1) It is essential to know what is "the difference that makes a difference" (for that, confidence intervals are more informative then P values alone).
2) Corrections for multiple comparisons methods are also essential (especially FDR based methods - p.adjust(..., "BH") in R gives a basic start)
