I've been wrestling with regular expressions recently, so it was useful to give myself a bit of a refresher with Regex Crossword (with thanks to my colleague Paige for the tip). Little crossword-style puzzles (or various difficulties) challenge you to find strings that match the regular expression clues both horizontally and vertically:
It's nice practice for Regex Golf, the game where you try and find a regular expression that matches all of one set of words (for example: the names of US presidents) but none of another set (example: opponents of US presidents). Buy as xkcd warns, that way madness may lie:
