We've just gone through a major update to the REvolution Computing website, and you might have noticed one change in particular: RPro has disappeared! Don't panic though -- it's just a name change. With a nod towards the naming conventions of Red Hat Linux, our basic distribution of R is now called REvolution R. REvolution R is now available for free download on Windows and Mac OS X. We decided to change the name to better reflect the fact that REvolution R is R (with some added extras), and to distinguish the free version from REvolution Enterprise R which includes even more additional functionality along with the support subscription.
For a while, you'll still see the RPro name from time to time -- not least in the application identity and documentation when you download and install REvolution R. It takes us quite a while to produce a new update to our distributions and complete the battery of quality tests on each platform, and the decision to change the name was made midway through the validation process for REvolution R 1.2. You'll see the software correctly branded with the next release.
