I'm often asked to explain what R is, and I find it easiest to answer that question by providing examples of how people have used R in practice. To make that task easier, I've just added a new category to the blog: applications. The applications category is intended to showcase applications of R to real-world problems. Any post that shows an interesting use of R, or about a new domain where R is used, will be tagged with this category (and old posts have already been added where appropriate). I'm always looking for interesting examples of R in action, so if you come across a neat application (or have done one yourself) please let me know.
As R has matured it's expanded into more and more domains beyond areas where it's traditionally been used. To reflect one such domain, I've added a second new category: predictive analytics. The predictive analytics category will cover all things related to data mining, predictive analytics and machine learning (especially when related to R).
Great site David. I am slowly learning more about R and its applications. I would love to see more real world applications. My site is geared towards tools that help Industrial Engineers and Operations Research analysts. I would love to feature R uses and advantages as a tool for analysis and operations modeling.
