The next update to the R project, CRAN R 2.10.0, was announced today by core team member Uwe Ligges Peter Dalgaard. It will be released in source form on October 26 (following a beta test period), with binaries to follow soon thereafter.
Significant planned changes visible to users include:
- Improvements to the web-based help system and the underlying processes for generating help
- More mathematical operations on time-based quantities
- A continuity correction may now be applied to the Kendall and Spearman methods of cor.test
- User-contributed methods are now supported by glm
- Support for sparse matrices in statistical and tabulation functions
- Improved accuracy for some complex arithmetic
- Improved performance when using regular expressions
