For the benefit of all the Hacker News readers visiting for yesterday's Machine Learning post, I thought I'd point out this analysis of Hacker News survey data done in R. (By the way, you can download REvolution R, optimized for Mac and PC, for free here.) The reader survey collected demographic data (using a Google spreadsheets form) for Hacker News readers, and new R user John visualized the results using the ggplot2 package. For example, the age of HN readers skews fairly young:
