Here's a cool application of the Kinect sensor: several of them are used to map the geometry of a room and track a person, who uses a handheld projector like a flashlike to "see" and interact with virtual elements in the scene:
I think the Kinect is going to be used more and more for applications like this (a good think, since other than Dance Central it kinda sucks for gaming). It's obviously early days yet for this "holodeck-like" prototype, but it will be interesting to see where this technology goes.
