Check out this cover of Goyte's "Somebody That I Used to Know", played on a single guitar by all five members of Walk Off The Earth:
Incidentally, the Gotye original version is the first song by an Australian artist to reach #1 on the US charts since Savage Garden in 2000. There's so much good Australian music it's a shame more of it doesn't make it to the charts over here in the US. But this is still a great song, so enjoy it as a kick-off to your weekend!
Loving these Friday posts, David!
Agreed about there being a ton of great Australian music in general, but past few years have raised the bar.
Are you familiar with Tame Impala out of Perth? They released and album called "Innerspeaker" that was my favorite record of 2010 (sounds like John Lennon fronting Cream in a Scooby-Doo cartoon...crazy analogy I know, but it fits).
A few of their best songs (w/corresponding great videos)...
->"Solitude is Bliss"
->"Lucidity"
->"Expectation"
A few members of that band also have a side project called Pond, & released an equally great debut earlier this year called "Beards, Wives, Denim"...
->"Eye Pattern Blindness"
->"Elegant Design"
->"Sorry I Was Under the Sky"
Enjoy!
