Director of Product Management Thomas Dinsmore brings us news of the next release of Revolution R Enterprise.
Revolution R Enterprise 6.2 is in Limited Availability release as of today, March 14, with General Availability planned for April 22. Limited Availability means the software has completed internal testing and will be released to early adopter customers who agree to provide feedback to Revolution Analytics about the new features; during this period, support for the new release is limited. General Availability means the software is available to any licensed customer, and is fully supported for all users.
This new release supports open source R 2.15.3, the latest stable version. R 2.15.3 includes 10 new features and 28 bug fixes, as well as utilities and installation tools. For more detailed information about what is included in R 2.15.3, go here.
Revolution R Enterprise 6.2 also includes several enhancements to the ScaleR library of high-performance analytics. These include:
- High Speed Teradata Connector
- Stepwise Regression for 'Big Data' Linear Models.
- Parallel Random Number Generator
- Fast Fixed Format Data Import
- By-Group Summary Statistics Enhancements
We are very excited about the new Teradata Connector. Designed to leverage the Teradata Parallel Transport utility, this connector provides users with a much faster way to incorporate data from a Teradata database into an analytic project. While results can vary, our benchmarking shows the new connector moves data five to seven times faster than through an ODBC connection.
There are also some new capabilities for web deployment:
- New DeployR APIs for repository and script management
- Migration utility to move DeployR scripts, repository data and projects
- Updates to DeployR documentation, client libraries, examples, installer
