I am beginning to get excited about going to Spain for useR 2013 which will be held at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, so I have been using the links on the Revolution's local user directory webpage to see what the European R user groups are doing. Here are just a few highlights of materials that can be found on the various R user groups websites.
Mairie Auger-Méthé combines science and a passion for animals in Using R to study animal movement on the Dublin-R website. (This presentation has the best first slide ever: polar bears and equations with losts of geeky Greek)
On the MilanoR website, Niccolo Bassani has a stellar presentation: R and Bioconductor for the analysis of massive genomic data. I do not have a biotech background myself but I found this presentation accessible and motivating.
If you are an R aficionado, have a look at Adrian Alexa's presentation "tips and tricks" for programming in R on the CambR website.
There is a lot more! Have a good look and what R topics people are talking about.
