I know I'm kinda obsessed by southern hemisphere astronomy, but this timelapse video of the sky and stars from Western Australia was too beautiful to ignore:
I found this video at Bad Astronomy, where Phil Plait says "seeing the Sun rise backward" — from right to left "always throws [him] off". I was surprised to realise that I'd never noticed there was a difference after I moved to the Northern Hemisphere from Australia! On the other hand, even after 20 years the moon still looks upside-down to me, and I can only see the "face" when I'm visiting back home. Go figure.
Anyway, have a great weekend — and don't forget to look out for the Perseid meteor shower starting on Sunday night.
That eclipse was beautiful!
