If you missed last week's webinar with John Kreisa from Hortonworks (hosted by Data Science Central), we described how R fits into the Modern Data Architecture. Not only can you extract and distil data in Hadoop with the open-source RHadoop project, but with the forthcoming release of Revolution R Enterprise 7 you will be able to run the high-performance distributed R functions in Revolution R Enterprise on without having to move the data out of Hadoop, and using the Hadoop nodes as a parallel computation grid.
You can watch the replay of the webinar above, or download the slides from the presentation at the link below.
Revolution Analytics Webinars: The Modern Data Architecture for Predictive Analytics with Revolution Analytics and Hortonworks Data Platform
I wanted to share a video that I think can be helpful for your readers that deals with planning and executing a Big Data program. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow76L0IEZNY) This video is based off of TEKsystems research and delivers the message in a cute way through multiple sci-fi references. This video is not technology specific, but more of a primer in Big Data preparation.
