You might not think of 70's pop as a great learning tool for history teachers, but it turns out if you rewrite the lyrics to My Sharona you get a great lesson on Alexander the Great and the Macedonian Empire (via the ever-wonderful @midnight):
Sadly, this idea of using soundtracks for teaching doesn't appear to have taken off. The other historical music videos by 'historyteachers' on YouTube, on Marie Antoinette and Catherine the Great weren't nearly as successful, and nothing else has been posted since 2013. Maybe someone else has taken up the mantle since then? (If so, let me know in the comments.)
That's all from the blog for this week. Have a great weekend, and we'll be back on Monday. See you then!
